FAQ

All you need to know about VBS JR and VBS K5

Q: Who can attend VBS JR?

A: VBS JR will be geared to the little ones ages 3 (by June 30th) up to kids currently in transitional K or preppy K for the 2017-20

18 school year. For example, if your child is currently in preschool or PreK, they will attend VBS JR. If they are currently in kindergarten, they will attend VBS K5.

Q: Why was K6 changed to K5 this year?

A: At the beginning of 2018, Living Hope launched a Jr. High ministry, which was designed to include our current 6th grade

rs. The children’s ministry (Kingdom Kids Club) is now designed for Kindergarten to 5th graders. To mirror this change in our ministries, we renamed our VBS and changed the registration age/grade so that the current graduating 5th graders could participate in one last VBS before joining the Jr. High ministry in July.

Q: On the registration form, what grade level should I select?

A: You will need to register your child in their CURRENT grade level for the 2017-2018 school year. So if your child is attending 5th grade right now, they will be registering for VBS K5 as a 5th grader. And if your child is currently in preschool or PreK, they will register for VBS JR as preschool or PreK.

Q: Does my child need to be fully potty trained?

A: Yes, in both VBS programs, we ask that all children be fully potty-trained, needing no assistance from our volunteers.

Q: What are the dates, times, and cost?

A: VBS JR will be held June 19-21 from 6:00-8:15 PM. The registration cost is $20 until May 20th. After this date it is $25.

VBS K5 is June 26-29 from 6:00-8:45 PM. The registration cost is $30 until May 20th. After this date it is $35.

Q: What should my child wear?

A: We ask that children come in comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes. They will be receiving a VBS shirt on the first day. The bathrooms will be made available for kids to change.

Q: Are there any changes to check in procedure?

Yes, we are using a new registration program! We are continuously reviewing and reformatting our check-in/check-out procedure to make it quick yet safe for the kids.

Q: Will my child be given dinner at VBS JR and K5?

A: We ask that kids come with dinner already eaten. We provide a time for kids to sit and eat a heavy snack to compensate for an earlier than usual dinner for them.

Q: My child has a food allergy. What should I do?

A: If you listed an allergy for your child on the registration form, our Café coordinator will contact you a few days before VBS. They will provide you with the daily snack schedule. For days that your child cannot eat our snack, we ask that you provide an alternative. Just bring in a bag with your child’s name clearly marked on it and hand it to your child’s group leader.

Q: My child has separation anxiety. Can I stay on site in case my child needs me?

A: Unfortunately we do not allow parents to stay on our church property for safety reasons. Only registered volunteers are allowed to be around the children. We will not let your child cry for a prolonged period of time and will contact you if they are too upset to continue.

Q: Can I make friend requests?

A: There is no guarantee that friends can be put together. We try our best to make the groups fun and safe for everyone.

Q: Why are parents not allowed to watch or visit during VBS?

A: We have a closed campus policy; this includes the parking lot. We make every effort to ensure the safety of the children. That is the number one priority for our safety team. Registered volunteers are the only adults allowed on campus during the hours of VBS. All non-volunteers, even LHCC members, will be asked to leave.
